overall not a bad place and I will call this a working man's restaurant where it's not very fancy but certainly clean and a little run down. it certainly not what I would call a thin thick Mexican food but it's pretty good overall as far as taste-wise. The prices overall are pretty good and they have some good specials.

Had a party of 8 eat dinner tonight at the said location. Four adults and four children. The total bill was $90.00. Three of which are are off of the children’s menu and one share a plate with a parent. We had a total of three beers between the adults. Now you do the math. How does that equal to a bill of $90.00? Well you keep the tip and enjoy it because my family and I will never return. Also, on a side note the food was terrible.

Good service BUT food was not good. I would not recommend this place for food. We did however enjoyed their margaritas.

"We can only refund you if we take the (meat containing) dish back to the kitchen, in order to make you the vegetarian version you initially requested." Me: I'd eat the mistake if you leave it. I eat meat. Restaurant: nope. We need to make sure your vegetarian girlfriend isn't trying to sneak a free meal by ordering quesadillas sans meat and somehow knowing we'd f up and add meat. Me: but an animal died for these quesadillas and I'd like to bring them to my hotel's fridge. "If you want your gf to get the vegetarian dish she ordered, we're going to have to throw the meat version in the garbage. No redemption for the animal killed in the making of this dish, sorry."

We ordered catering today for my mother's 60th birthday, and what a spread! The food was piping hot and delicious. G was very helpful and even helped load up the car! If you're looking for an affordable party option, we highly recommend.

Great food and service as always. If you are in Nellysford, you need to stop in for lunch or dinner. Live music on weekends is a bonus!

Very average Mexican food. Good home made margaritas but that's the only thing that was above average. The four star average is no where close the mark. Don't get your hopes up.

We may try it again, simply because it's local and convenient. But the atmosphere was dingy and the salsa was a predominately sweet "ketchup-like" concoction and I love me some salsa! I could see grime on the floors under the tables and washed into the stone facade from what has to be months of build up and mopping. The menu is vast, as most Mexican restaurants are, but nothing spectacular jumped out at either of us. Added a star for good service.

Ordered a margarita. And all you can taste is sweet and sour mix. No alcohol in drink. All the manager wanted to do is charge extra for a shot of tequila to put in the drink. Terrible place . Will never be back

Don't Starve waiting in line at one of the nearby breweries or wineries. We came here on a Saturday afternoon after leaving Devil's Backbone very disappointed of the huge lines. We did not try any drinks but food was just amazing. All dishes where really big, inexpensive and very delicious. We left this place extremely satisfied. It is a really good option if you are not willing to wait unreasonably for food at other very popular places.

Fantastic! Our waitress was very pleasant and was wearing a very cool mask, the restaurant itself was clean and the food (we both got the Borito California) was AMAZING!

To have a mexican restaurant in a rural sparsely populated area like Nellysford is a treat within itself. This marks their 4th or 5th year here in Nelson County and we're glad to have them. It's great for both locals and visitors. Though you may find some slightly better food at a mexican restaurant in a metro city, maybe, their service and prices here cannot be beat. And they do a very good job with the food for a restaurant this size! Dine here at least a couple of times a week and always satisfied.

The service and food was amazing! We were seated right away and served our drinks quickly. The food was hot and delicious! It was also very fast. Elmer was an extremely nice and attentive server! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!!

Food is above par- the meats taste better than many Tex-Mex places. Service is a bit slow but overall a nice comfort meal to be enjoyed. The salsa is over processed and has the consistency of runny ketchup with very few chunks but it does have good flavor. Certainly worth a visit.

Food was good: piping hot and large quantities. Good flavor though some of the group had overcooked chicken while others were cooked fine. Salsa was okay- tasted bottled. Reasonable prices. Service was lacking. Had to ask for a menu and silverware. Food didn't arrive together. Beers listed as on tap (handwritten sign) was not actually available. Some challenges separating the bill.

Best Mexican food in Nelson

It’s unfortunate there isn’t a 0/5 option. The salsa is the equivalent of canned tomatoes, tossed with a few onions and perhaps some Heinz 57. The steak was comparable to cardboard and nearly the same flavor. The server who rang up our bill guaranteed that the queso would be filled to the brim, but it was slightly over half. If you’re visiting from out of town, either make your own food at home or buy some Taco Bell en route to your final destination.

This place is wonderful the staff is great and the food and drinks are delicious and affordable great restaurant!

I first stopped here during the fall of 2017, on my way to someplace bigger. The town of Nellysford is home to a little over a thousand people, and I think this restaurant is the only Mexican joint for miles. Faithful readers of this blog will know my grading scale when it comes to latin food. I award this 4 stars because for being a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, the cooks actually make an effort for the food to be tasty.

Mexican food in Nellysford is a treat. I was with a group and everyone was happy with their meals. The service was good but there is no ambience she says with a smile. There is a bar area and live music on occasion. I will eat there again. There was a different owner and restaurant here previously. I recommend Margaritas if you are looking for Mexican food. They have a large selection of meals and a la carte.Enjoy!

Not sure if we were there on an “off” day, but this truly was not 4 or 5 Star Mexican food. It was simply okay. Not horrible or inedible, but not great either. The beef in a taco salad and tacos was very salty. I ate maybe half and had to stop. The refried beans in the dish were super runny and covered in a cheese sauce. That was also way too salty. The salsa was very bland. The enchilada sauce tasted like canned store brand. We will not be returning. The place was more of a bar than a restaurant, so if you want a beer or margarita, you are in good shape.
